Tree survey, tree surveying
A tree survey is a topographic survey in which each individual tree is represented by an identification mark indicating its characteristics (species, trunk diameter and height). The characteristics can be indicated using symbols (trees with the same characteristics are indicated with one symbol, those with different characteristics with a different symbol) or by drawing up a dendrological list. Then the trees are assigned numbers on the plan, which characteristics are shown in a separate table.
Based on the results of the tree survey, all the greenery found in the area is plotted using conventions, and a tree list is drawn up, showing the name of the plant species, its number, size characteristics, and health status.
This work is often required in cases such as:
- design and planning work where trees need to be retained
- determination of the extent of the felling work
- for landscaping projects
